The main events in Casale Monferrato and the surrounding area in July

* EVENTS IN CASALE MONFERRATO *

 

The summer edition of “Notte Bianca” (White Night) takes place in the town center on Saturday 6th July: music, entertainment, extra opening time at shops and night openings at museums.

 

The traditional event “Casale Città Aperta” (Casale Open Town) takes place on Saturday 13th (in the afternoon) and Sunday 14th (in the morning and afternoon): opening of churches and sights that are usually closed; a free tour starts from the Tourist Info Office (in piazza Castello) on Sunday at 15.30 thanks to the volunteer association Orizzonte Casale.

 

In the same weekend takes place also the Antique Market (Mercato Pavia in piazza Castello), with antiques and vintage stalls.

 

On Sunday 14th takes place also “Galleggia non galleggia” (Floating or not floating), a goliardic competition for self-produced card board boats on the Po river; entertainment and fun for the whole family.

 

Typical food and wines are available at the market “Il Paniere” that takes place in Piazza Mazzini for the whole day on Saturday 20th.

 

The Civic Museum (that is open from Thursday to Sunday) is showing two temporary exhibitions:

- “Angelo Morbelli. Pittore del Monferrato” (Angelo Morbelli. Painter of the Monferrato) – opened till 29th September: Angelo Morbelli is an important protagonist of Italian art between the 19th and 20th century; the project falls within the sphere of the celebrations for the centenary of Angelo Morbelli’s death and specifically wants to pay tribute to him, enhancing the current of landscape painting which the artist dedicated himself to during his stays in Monferrato;

- “Carlo Vidua. Una vita in viaggio” (Carlo Vidua. A life around the world) – opened throughout 2019: objects, books and documents collected by Vidua during his peregrinations throughout the five continents will be put on display; they constitute a one-off in Piedmont and take on a national and international stature due to their rare and heterogeneous nature.

 

Through the month of July along the Po river take place the event "Energica on the river" with music and entertainment in the afternoon and evening (for details please write at chiosco@comune.casale-monferrato.al.it).

 

* EVENTS IN THE SURROUNDING AREA *

 

In the village of CAMINO the House-Museum Colombotto Rosso (a famous italian Artist) opens on 7th July from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 2.30 pm to 6 pm (check in case of any changes and variations).

 

On Sunday 14th July is possible to discover the SACRED MOUNT OF CREA (Unesco World Heritage Site) thanks to a guided visit that starts at 4.30pm, followed by a guided tour at a wine producer of the area (upon payment, it is necessary to book in advance).

 

In the village of GRANA takes place on Saturday 20th July the event “Che Grana... il Grignolino”, a festival to celebrate the typical wine called Grignolino, with traditional food and wines.

 

In the village of CASORZO takes place from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th the event "Battesimo del Malvasia", a festival to celebrate the typical wine called Malvasia,  with traditional food and wines, music and entertainment in the evenings.

 

Antiques markets take place in the town of MONCALVO on the first Sunday of the month (7th July) and in the village of PONTESTURA on the last Sunday of the month (28th July).

 

For those who love Astronomy and the observation of the sky, the appointments are in the village of TREVILLE on Saturday 13th (at 9.30pm) and on Tuesday 16th (at 9.30pm). Moreover, the Observatory in the village of ODALENGO PICCOLO opens on July 16th, 20th and 27th (from 9.30 to 11 pm, upon payment).

 

The Patronal Celebration (Festa Patronale) with local food and wines, music and entertainment takes place in the village of GRAZZANO BADOGLIO from 5th to 7th July, in the village of CELLA MONTE from 19th to 22nd, in the village of VIARIGI from 27th to 29th July and in the village of SALA MONFERRATO from 27th to 29th July.

 

The Monferrato area has a lot of castles. Some of them are opened in July for guided tours and events, such as Castles and Historical Buildings in Casale Monferrato, Gabiano, Giarole, Rosignano Monferrato and San Giorgio Monferrato; for more information, opening dates and times please check and visit the websites www.castelliaperti.it and www.adsi.it/adsi-piemonte or write an email at chiosco@comune.casale-monferrato.al.it. In addition it is possible to take part in a guided visit to the village of OZZANO MONFERRATO on Sunday 21st.

 

For those who love music the appointment is “Armonie in Valcerrina” (Melodies in Valcerrina), with the concert that takes place in the village of SOLONGHELLO on Saturday 27th at 5pm.

 

Last but not least, on Sunday 28th it is possible to discover The Romanesque in the Lomellina area thanks to a guided tour about the architectural masterpieces in Lomellina area (8th-15th century) along the ancient Via Francigena.

The opening times of the TOURIST INFORMATION OFFICE in Casale Monferrato are:

  • Tuesdays and Fridays from 3 to 6 pm;
  • Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 to 6 pm;
  • Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 to 7 pm;
  • Mondays closed.
