How to reach the Monferrato area, in Piedmont
The Monferrato area is in Piedmont, in the North-West of Italy. The area called Monferrato Casalese, in particular, is located between the plain of the river Po and the Monferrato hills, in the provinces of Alessandria and Asti, in the South-East of Piedmont.
In and around Casale Monferrato, the historical capital of the area, towns and villages rich in history, art, culture, panoramic views, typical products, outdoor activities and much more are waiting for you.
The town of Casale and the Monferrato area have a favorable position, not far from the main cities of Turin, Milan and Genoa – about an hour’s drive. If you are spending time in one of these cities, come and visit the Monferrato area, an unexpected destination will fascinate you. It is worth doing!
HOW TO REACH THE AREA
- By car or coach
You can reach the area by Motorway A26 Genova-Gravellona, exit Casale Nord/North or Casale Sud/South.
The Motorway A26 is connected with:
- Motorway A4 Torino-Milano;
- Motorway A21 Torino-Piacenza-Brescia;
- Motorway A7 Milano-Genova.
It takes you about one hour’s drive to reach the town of Casale and the Monferrato area from the cities of Turin, Milan and Genoa.
- By train
The nearest high speed train stations (FrecciaRossa, FrecciaBianca, Intercity trains) are:
- Vercelli railway station (Torino-Milano line);
- Alessandria railway station (Torino-Genova and Torino-Bologna lines).
It takes you about 30 minutes by car/taxi or bus to reach the town of Casale Monferrato from both Vercelli and Alessandria.
On weekdays it is possible to reach the town of Casale Monferrato directly by train from Chivasso and Alessandria railway stations.
- By plane
From the town of Casale Monferrato in one hour’s drive you can get to:
- the international airport of Milan-Malpensa;
- the airport of Torino-Caselle;
- the airport of Genova-Cristoforo Colombo.
The airport of Milano-Linate is about one hour and fifteen minutes far by car from the town of Casale Monferrato.
